Zimory, the Berlin-based experts on cloud management software, will today be demonstrating how its technology is being used in conjunction with TM Forum’s Information Framework to make a transparent and standardized global cloud computing marketplace a reality.

Today’s market for cloud computing is difficult for buyers and sellers to navigate, as infrastructure as a service (IaaS) solutions – such as compute and storage – lack standardization between vendors from a technical, business, compliance and legal perspective. This makes comparing offerings from different vendors next to impossible, changing suppliers equally hard, and service level agreements difficult to establish, monitor and enforce.

The TM Forum has been, and remains, committed to creating standards for a neutral marketplace in order to address the difficulties inherent in purchasing and selling IaaS. The Information Framework (SID), within the Frameworx suite of best practices and standards has enabled the Cloud Brokerage Interface to simplify implementation and allow prospective marketplace buyers to start purchasing and using IaaS resources as quickly as possible.

“Organizations purchasing IaaS want to know the services they purchase are open, flexible and secure,” says Nik Willetts, chief strategy officer, TM Forum. “The Cloud Brokerage Interface gives cloud providers from around the world the ability to offer standardized services and allows IT departments to implement the fulfillment and settlement of those services accurately, quickly and efficiently, and in alignment with TM Forum standards.”

To ensure the interface aligns to Frameworx, TM Forum and Zimory have been working closely together to develop a proof of concept demonstration of an Information Framework-aligned Cloud Brokerage Interface. When completed, a Cloud Brokerage Interface can be used by purchasers of cloud compute and storage services to test cloud implementations.

“The Cloud Brokerage Interface enables IT departments to create requests for cloud services, send those requests to a neutral cloud services marketplace, and find a vendor for those services who can fill the request – all with the assurance of knowing that TM Forum’s Frameworx information model is guiding the process,” said Ruediger Baumann, CEO of Zimory.

“Devoteam considers the Cloud Brokerage Interface as a fundamental tool for making a cloud computing marketplace a working reality,” said Tobias Hummel, Offer Director for Cloud Transformation at Devoteam Central Europe. “We’re excited how it simplifies the cloud marketplace. Customers as well as Cloud Brokers shall benefit from less effort due to highly efficient procurement processes, and fully automated service delivery. We are looking forward to see it underpinning the cloud services markets in the near future.”

Zimory, along with TM Forum and Devoteam, will demonstrate how the Cloud Brokerage Interface can be used by IT departments to purchase IaaS resources in “The Hub” at TM Forum’s Management World 2013, held May 13-16 in Nice, France, at the Acropolis Convention Center.
