Ft. Dodge, IA (PRWEB) February 05, 2013
MCM Events, the conference and events division of Maximum Capacity Media, is delighted to announce that Industrial Training International (ITI) Canada ULC, an ITI company located in Edmonton, has signed up as event partner for the Crane & Rigging Conference (CRC) Canada, which takes place Oct. 22-23 at the Edmonton Marriott at River Cree Resort, Edmonton, Alberta.
Now in its third year, CRC Canada will again welcome crane professionals from all the western provinces, eastern Canada, and many from the U.S., while a strong contingent from the oil sands in Fort McMurray in particular is anticipated. CRC Canada will address crane and rigging supervisors, facilities managers, and safety personnel. Mobile cranes, critical lifting, rigging, overhead cranes, standards, competency, and training will be among key topics.
“ITI is very optimistic about participating in a bigger way at CRC Canada this year,” said Zack Parnell, vice president, ITI Canada. “Maximum Capacity Media has been a long-time evangelist for improving the lifting industry—that mentality aligns very well with our goals of competency-driven education above all else.”
Having staged a well-received workshop last year, Mike Parnell, president/CEO, ITI Canada, will again deliver a presentation to CRC Canada attendees. “Our organization works very hard to deliver the best education in the world regarding cranes, rigging, and lifting activities,” he said. “We are so tightly-focused on this niche subject—it is our expertise and the only thing that we do. We believe that is why we are selected by organizations throughout Canada, from the Royal Canadian Navy to Shell Canada.”
Mike Parnell has recently been accepted as an Associate Member to the CSA (Canadian Standards Association) Z150 Technical Committee on Mobile Cranes. He is also vice chairman, ASME B30 (Cranes & Rigging Standards Main Committee) and chairman, ASME P30 (Lift Planning Standard). ITI Canada currently employs instructors in Alberta and British Columbia, and operates with Industrial Training International which employs 10 additional full-time instructors in the U.S.
The Canadian government is expected to continue its backing for CRC Canada, following the public inauguration of the independent Canadian Hoisting & Rigging Safety Council (CHRSC) at the 2012 event. The CHRSC will report back to CRC Canada 2013 on the progress the group has made over the past year. Visit the website at CHRSC.ca.
Meanwhile, MCM Events can confirm that Brett Woodland, vice president of sales for Associated Wire Rope and Rigging, Inc., will deliver a paper to CRC Canada attendees. Woodland has more than 25 years of experience selling lifting and rigging equipment. His presentation will cover basic crane block concepts, including sheave diameter and its effect on wire rope life; crane block overhaul weight, including the advantages of detachable overhaul weight systems; and common causes of block twisting and rotation.
Another recently confirmed presentation is from Columbus McKinnon, while Fred Wolsey, systems engineer for cranes and hoists at Ontario’s Bruce Power nuclear power station, and Fraser Cocks, executive director of the B.C. Association for Crane Safety, are among other headline presenters.
