To determine the ratings, each piece of art selected to appear on Cureeo begins with a minimum quality threshold. After a thorough assessment, the final number is based on factors such as artists’ exhibition and collection history, as well as the materials, edition number and composition of each piece. While such criteria are always used to assess and appraise original artwork, this is the first time customers have full transparency into those dynamics. Similar to Robert Parker’s wine ratings, the Buyer’s Guide provided by Cureeo aims to give customers the information and vocabulary necessary to feel comfortable buying an unfamiliar product.
