Consumers and businesses both are starting to look for more personalized items, today. They are becoming less and less satisfied with the traditional retail experience of last century.

Sodura is a manufacturer of eco-friendly, contemporary children’s furniture, all of which is made at their facility in Louisville, KY. They also create their own designs, sometimes alongside their customers. This has put them in the position of being able to offer custom design and manufacturing services to its customers where many other brands aren't in the position to offer it. So, they saw 2012 move them more and more into this niche. According to the company, they are expecting 2013 to be an even bigger year for custom pieces and for small batch manufacturing to become a bigger part of the US economy.
"We want all of our customers to be completely satisfied in every way with their furniture and their experience with us," says Brian Scyphers, the GM. Sometimes that includes explaining materials that are used, working with them to understand their personal tastes and needs as well as the tastes and needs of their children.
His wife Carmen Scyphers says, "We believe in good, personal customer service. And we try to work with our customers on a personal level, whether it is the consumer who wants a very elaborately designed bunk bed, or a retailer who would like to offer their customers a custom color."
The husband and wife team believes in working with their customers to get them the products that they really want and helping those customers that are really looking for something above and beyond what’s available at the local big box store. According to Brian, “Consumers and businesses both are starting to look for more personalized items, today. They are becoming less and less satisfied with the traditional retail experience of last century, and I believe that there is a revival in the works of the cottage manufacturer. By cottage, I mean, manufacturers who are dedicated to smaller batches and providing a more custom experience for the users of their craft. We want to be on the forefront of that. We want to build a company that can really narrow in on what parents want to have in their homes and build exactly that piece. We want to build pieces that can be handed down for generations.”
Sodura was started in 2011 by two parents who wanted something different. Sodura focuses on modern designs to fit in any environment, using eco-friendly materials and doing it all right here in the USA.
