David Finn, CISA, CISM, CRISC, health information technology officer for Symantec, has joined the Clearwater HIPAA Audit Prep BootCamp™ faculty. Clearwater’s highly acclaimed BootCamp™ is designed to provide intensive education for busy professionals on the HIPAA Privacy and Security Final Rules, the HITECH Breach Notification Rule and the impact of the recently published HIPAA Omnibus Final Rule.

David’s initial participation with the expert faculty comprising the BootCamp faculty will be in the series of sessions that begin - February 12, 2013. Previously, Clearwater has conducted on-site BootCamps in major cities all over the U.S. This inaugural virtual presentation of essentially the same course syllabus is in response to many requests for those healthcare executives that just don’t have time or money allocated to travel. David’s segment will be presented during the third of the three-session series on February 26.
Before joining Symantec, David Finn was the chief information officer and vice president of Information Services for Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), one of the largest pediatric integrated delivery systems in the United States, where he also served as the privacy and security officer. Before serving at Texas Children’s Hospital, Finn spent seven years as a healthcare consultant with IMG/Healthlink and PwC, serving last as the EVP of operations for Healthlink.
Finn has more than 30 years of experience in the planning, management and control of information technology and business processes. He is focused on enabling operating efficiency and deriving business value through the optimization and control of technology. Finn’s key skills include IT Governance and Control, Project Management, Systems Selection and Implementation, Business and IT Partnering, and IT Audit, Control and Security.
He is a national and international speaker on topics such as project management, professional leadership and staff development, as well as information privacy and security. As both a source and a writer, he has provided articles on IT Management, Disaster Recovery and Security for journals such as CIO Digest and Baseline.
Finn holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota and a master’s degree from Angelo State University. In addition to having served on the national Board of HIMSS, he serves on the board of Houston Healthcare for the Homeless and is currently on the Privacy and Security Committee of HIMSS, as well as serving on ISACA’s Professional Influence and Advocacy Committee.
