Delta Dental Plans Association applauds the recent passage of an amendment to the Senate Budget Resolution by the United States Senate, sponsored by Senator Benjamin Cardin (D-MD), aimed at improving dental care for children on Medicaid. The amendment to the Senate, adopted by voice vote on March 22, recognizes the need for further legislation to fund risk-based preventive care and comprehensive disease prevention efforts, and grants authority to the Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee to reallocate funds to support such legislation when passed.

"Senator Cardin's amendment is an important first step to address the current gaps in dental care for children on Medicaid," said Steven R. Olson, president and CEO of Delta Dental Plans Association. “We are gratified that the Senate recognized the need for further legislation on this subject, and provided flexibility for funding of such legislation once it is passed."
