Encino gopher control is the talk of the town because homes are plagued with the never ending battle of pocket gophers and gopher control. Gophers are rat sized animals that dig in the dirt eating the grass and tree roots. Made famous in the movie Caddy Shack starring Bill Murray, attempting to capture, drown and even blow up the gopher can be tougher than you think.
A lot of Encino property owners attempt gopher extermination based on information on the internet, bait from nurseries and drowning with a garden hose. They sometimes do get lucky with a gopher, but they seem to keep coming.
If left uncontrolled these pesky gophers will eat all the grass and flowers leaving nothing but dirt mounds. The normal sign of gophers is the mounds of dirt left atop of the ground. The gopher mounds come from the tunneling they make and is the excavated soil. The gopher piles also damage the turf by smothering the lawn.
Sooner or later the turf has dead areas from eating and smothering from the mounds. Someone can be in the yard and see the jiggle of a flower or plant. Then watch as it vanishes into the ground, never to be seen again.
Fruit bearing trees and other large root vegetation can take some chewing of the roots and still survive. The chewing from gophers will stunt growth and slow the production of the tree.
The answer is not easy. Encino property owners are challenged since they cannot buy restricted poison and trapping takes time to figure out. Some companies sell repellents and sonic beepers, none of which work and should not waste money on. Most are better off hiring someone who knows how to take care of gophers. If it sounds too good to be true…
Rodent Guys will use carbon monoxide combined with poison or trapping. Poison bait is used where pets, wildlife and kids are not at high risk. Trapping is used where these risks are elevated. Rodent Guys will give recommendations but ultimately the customer decides which option is used.
