College graduates whose courses of study correlate with a specific field and job skill experience lower unemployment rates than those who graduate with a general degree, according to a study by Georgetown University’s Center on Education and the Workforce. 1.    Invite company executives to join your school’s advisory board and help shape the curriculum to fit their needs and ultimately better prepare students for employment.
2.    Encourage instructors to visit business operations. The more knowledgeable an instructor is about a company, the more he or she can get students excited about the possibility of employment opportunities.
3.    Develop well-rounded students with hard and soft skills. An employee must be adept at applying knowledge in a working environment but also must have people skills to further his or her success.
