Glenmark, which has the distinction of being the first individually quick frozen (IQF) burger developed for home use, is now available at 17 Festival Foods locations in the Wisconsin area.
Proudly made in neighboring Chicago for four decades, Glenmark products use 100 percent USDA beef, and each Glenmark burger is individually quick frozen (IQF) to ensure optimum freshness and flavor. Glenmark burgers are intended to grill or cook directly from the freezer. There is no need to thaw the product.
Currently, Glenmark is celebrating 40 years of taste, quality and value.
“The anniversary is a very special event at our company,” said David L. Van Kampen, president and COO of Best Chicago Meat, Glenmark’s parent company. “The expansion into Wisconsin is icing on the cake.”
To mark this occasion, Best Chicago Meat introduced three new products under the Glenmark Premier Label line.
The Glenmark Premier Label line includes:
- Angus Beef Chuck - 1/3 pound burgers
- Angus Mini Burgers – 2 oz. burgers
- All White Meat Turkey Patties – 1/3 pound burgers that are 94 percent lean
Glenmark’s Classic Line boasts four decades of success. It includes:
- Steak Eater’s burgers, restaurant-style – ¼ pound of 100 percent USDA beef
- Cookout burgers – 1/3 pound of 100 percent USDA beef
- Great Grillsby Patties – ¼ pound of USDA beef, soy and a special mild seasoning making these burgers a value-priced alternative to all-beef burgers.
“Like all our products, Glenmark burgers are made in Chicago under our rigorous quality control standards,” Van Kampen said.
Originally owned by OSI, the Glenmark IQF burger was first developed in the early 1970s. In 1999, Best Chicago Meat Co. entered into a licensing agreement to produce and market the Glenmark brand of retail frozen hamburgers. By the spring of 2007, demand for Glenmark and other products resulted in opening a new state-of-the-art neighborhood manufacturing facility located on Chicago's northwest side. In Dec., 2011, Best Chicago Meat Co., LLC, acquired the Glenmark brand.
