Tallahassee, FL (PRWEB) December 21, 2012
Customers looking for hearing aids in Tallahassee FL, Hearing and Balance Associates of NW Florida recently introduced its new website. Clients have access to an abundance of information, including information on hearing loss and hearing aid advancements. New clients, or patients checking up on their hearing situation, can take the online hearing test. Once a patient has made an appointment through the easy to use online system, or by calling, the staff will conduct a more thorough hearing test to ensure accuracy and the best hearing solutions.
The in-office hearing tests are conducted in multiple parts. First, the Audiologist may look into the ears by using an otoscope. This instrument is used to see in the ear canal and the ear drum and whether there is ear wax obstructing the canal. The Audiologists will then conduct the pure tone hearing test, similar to the online test. The Audiologist will place headphones that are connected to an audiometer over the ears in a quiet environment. The audiometer transmits a series of tones at a variety of volumes into the ears to determine the exact point or "threshold" at which the patient can hear various frequencies of sounds. When a patient hears a sound, they will be asked to say "yes" or raise their hand. The next test is speech testing. The audiologist will ask the patient to listen to a series of one and two syllable words at different volumes and then ask them to repeat them. This will determine the level at which the patient can detect and understand speech.
