By donating air fare, the program has saved Hope For The Warriors® thousands of dollars in travel expenses—dollars that instead fund programs that further support recovery and rehabilitation.
NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) June 19, 2013
Hope For The Warriors® thanks Fisher House Foundation’s Hero Miles program, and those who generously gave off their miles, to help provide support for Hope For The Warriors®. Hero Miles funds the air travel of wounded service members, veterans and military family members in support of program work within Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.
“Working with the Hero Miles program has provided significant and meaningful support to programs that aid in the recovery of our service members,” Robin Kelleher, Hope For The Warriors® president said. “By donating air fare, the program has saved Hope For The Warriors® thousands of dollars in travel expenses—dollars that instead fund programs that further support recovery and rehabilitation.”
In 2012 alone, Hero Miles donated 114 flights at a value of more than $146K. The Hero Miles program uses frequent flyer miles that have been donated by passengers of their airline partners to provide free airline tickets to support wounded, injured, and ill service members and their families who are undergoing treatment at a military or VA medical center or who are attending authorized events.
“It is truly a privilege for Fisher House Foundation to assist Hope For The Warriors® through our Hero Miles program,” said Ken Fisher, Chairman and CEO of Fisher House Foundation. “The work that Hope For The Warriors® does serves as an inspiration to all and our relationship goes well beyond a partnership—we consider Robin and Hope For The Warriors® as friends and family.”
The Hero Miles program has supported the program work of the Family Reintegration Program, a joint program with Hope For The Warriors® and Holliswood Hospital. Flights have also been donated in support of Hope & Morale and Outdoor Adventures Programs throughout the country.
