NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) January 17, 2013

Bob Woodruff Foundation awarded a grant to Hope For The Warriors® to support the nonprofit’s continued work with wounded service members and military families. The grant was given to support the Family Reintegration Program, a program managed by Hope For The Warriors® and Holliswood Hospital in Queens, NY. Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

The Family Reintegration Program aims to, first and foremost, support wounded warriors and their families by engaging the warrior and their spouse/caregiver in a therapeutic experience that promotes family communication, recovery and resiliency.

“It is not enough to provide therapy to just the service member with PTSD. We need to nurture and educate the family as well,” Tina Atherall, Hope For The Warriors® Executive Vice President said. “The grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation will be instrumental in providing additional program support to military families.”

Service members struggling with PTSD are admitted into the Military Wellness Program at Holliswood Hospital. During their time in Holliswood, spouses/caregivers will fly to New York for the Family Reintegration Program, a three-day therapeutic workshop. The workshop includes education on PTSD, couples and individual therapy sessions, and opportunities for respite and self-care. Ongoing support and follow up continues after the family members return home.
