Celebrations will be held in Galveston and surrounding cities in Texas in celebration of Juneteenth.

According to the blog post by Cloud Technology Systems, Juneteenth is also known as freedom day or emancipation day. The article relates that the United States Holiday honors the announcement of the abolition of slavery in the state of Texas in 1865. Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th and is recognized as a state holiday or day of observance in 42 states.
