Departments are merging, processes are being redefined, and overall businesses are looking far closer at how they are set up and how they do things - Sean McPheat, MD of MTD Training

(PRWEB) November 26, 2012

Businesses within the UK are now appreciating that the development of their staff is vital to ride the current economic climate according to research conducted by management development and sales training specialists MTD Training.

Over 1,800 HR managers and Training managers were surveyed from
http://www.hr-managers.co.uk and 84% of them stated that the training within their company had either remained the same as 2011 (38%) or indeed it had increased (46%).

MTD’s Managing Director Sean McPheat states: “As a company we are finding that this trend is about right. Businesses are either battening down the hatches, cutting training budgets and doing nothing - or they are going to the other extreme and really investing in it. Then there are a whole host of companies that are just waiting for something to happen and for someone to say that the future is more optimistic.”

The research also uncovered some further interesting findings in that whilst 46% of the companies had provided more training for their staff during 2012, within those same companies 38% of them had had to reduce their headcounts due to the economic climate.

“The reskilling, up-skilling and cross skilling of those staff that do stay means that those that keep their jobs are having to do more within their roles. Departments are merging, processes are being redefined, and overall businesses are looking far closer at how they are set up and how they do things,” added McPheat.
