Beloved comedian and actor Bill Cosby came to Saint Peter’s University Church to celebrate Saint Peter’s PAC, a consortium of performing arts spaces on campus. The festivities continue with an impressive lineup of performers through the end of the year.
The event spaces, all located on campus, can seat from anywhere from 200 to 3,200 people and can host a range of performances: concerts, trade shows, plays, improv groups, film screenings and more. A 400-seat space designed for jazz and acoustic concerts, currently under construction, will boast a view of the Manhattan skyline. The jewel of the consortium may be St. Aedan’s: The Saint Peter’s College Church, a soaring cathedral that can be converted into a majestic theatre that seats 1,200.
The celebration also highlights the transformation of Saint Peter’s College into Saint Peter’s University, a comprehensive educational institution with a range of academic programs as well as diverse cultural and artistic offerings.
In November, Bill Cosby performed at St. Aedan’s: The Saint Peter’s College Church to launch the festivities. Mr. Cosby is one of the most prolific comedians of all time and has delighted generations of fans, transcending age, gender and culture. Other performers who will take part in the celebration including Kenny Vance & The Planotones, famous for their hit “Looking for an Echo”; Jay Siegel & The Tokens, singers of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”: Frankie Lymon’s Legendary Teenagers, known for the song “Why Do Fools Fall in Love;” The Midtown Men (original Jersey Boys), and Shirley Alston Reeves, the original singer from The Shirelles, who performed her legendary hit, “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.”
