Prison.us.org has decided to add restraining orders to the list of information provided on their prison document reports, company officials said yesterday.
“We've had multiple customers express interest in restraining order reports,” a company representative said. “We didn't initially include them, but after talking with our customers we see that there is a valid reason for people to want to have access to them.”
The company provides customers with arrest records, conviction records, jail records, and marriage and divorce records.
“We initially thought that actual arrest and conviction records would be the most interesting documents for our customers,” the representative said. “That caused us to miss restraining order records, since they don't always lead to an arrest.”
People are interested in restraining order records because they often use the site to screen out potential dating partners, the company said.
“If you meet someone through an online dating site, you want to know a little bit about them before you go on a first date,” the representative said. “Knowing if their former partner had to have the police order them to stay away from their home is a bit of information that people can legitimately use to screen out dates.”
The reports will also note whether or not the person was arrested for violating a restraining order.
“You might have a different opinion about someone who had a bad breakup but listened to the police than you would of someone who violated the restraining order and actually stalked their ex,” the representative said.
Maintaining a good prison record or background check is important for multiple reasons.Prison.us.org advises those looking for employment, or just individuals wondering about their past, to check out prison report services because it can effect their future.
