It’s concerning to think that so many don’t realize that abusive use of alcohol and drugs can impact families significantly
Connecticut (PRWEB) October 12, 2012
A survey conducted in the UK by a charity called 4Children shows that sixty percent of those surveyed believe that their alcohol consumption and drug use does not impact their family life.
Of those surveyed, seven percent said that they drink daily and only nine percent thought that drinking negatively affected them and those around them. The most disturbing data suggested that twenty percent of those surveyed felt that their alcohol use actually improved their parenting skills.
“It’s concerning to think that so many don’t realize that abusive use of alcohol and drugs can impact families significantly,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center. “The frightening thing is that quite a few think it actually helps in parenting. Even though this study was conducted overseas, we may have some of the same attitudes in the United States and not even realize it. Clear communication and education regarding the collateral damage that habitual alcohol consumption can cause is needed to help put an end to the alcohol problem that plagues the world.”
