Reminderband® Creates New Wristband for Lung Cancer Victim

Reminderband, a well-known manufacturer of Silicone Wrist Bands, has just designed a leopard print wristband for cancer victim, Valerie Scott.

Reminderband® Inc. announces that they have just designed a new custom wristband to assist with awareness and fund raising efforts for Valerie Scott, an energetic grandmother from Utah who was diagnosed with lung cancer despite the fact that she has never smoked.

The wristband is leopard print and glows in the dark and is constructed of 100% pure silicone which is very durable and can last for years. Wristbands can be embossed or screen printed with any wording. Ms. Scott’s wristband says, “Lick it! Lung Cancer.”

Though Valerie is a non-smoker, she was diagnosed with phase four lung cancer. Scientists are saying radon could be the culprit. She is from the state of Utah, which has the fewest smokers of any state in the nation, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A staggering fifty percent of lung cancer victims in Utah are non-smokers. This leads scientists to believe that something else is causing the cancer.

According to a report from KSL News in Utah, “Radon is a naturally-occurring gas that comes from the decay of uranium in soil and water. It seeps up through the ground and collects in buildings. You can't see it, smell it or taste it so it's impossible to know it's there until you test for it. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates it kills at least 20,000 people every year. That makes it the second leading cause of lung cancer after cigarettes — more dangerous than second-hand smoke.” (Mike Headrick and Linda Williams-KSL)

Valerie Scott, age 53, said that she was stunned to learn that she had phase four lung cancer since she had never smoked in her lifetime. She has a new grandson who is the light of her life and she hopes to see him graduate from high school. She reportedly said that the idea of having lung cancer had not yet become real to her.

When the manufacturer of customized silicone wristbands, Reminderband, saw Ms. Scott’s story, they were very touched. They saw a vibrant grandma longing to see her grandson grow up, confused by her condition. That’s when they got the idea to create the beautiful glow-in-the-dark, leopard printed wristband. Valerie and her family and friends can wear them to show support and remind them of the battle that Valerie is fighting. They can also be used for fundraising.

Lung cancer is the deadliest form of cancer for both men and women. More deaths are a result of lung cancer than colon, prostate and breast cancers combined. There are several factors that can increase your risk of lung cancer, the number one being cigarette smoking. Other factors that can contribute include second hand smoke, family history, and exposure to cancer causing substances, like radiation and asbestos.

Reminderband is often referred to as the, “Original Wristband” company and their reputation is widely known. They manufacture top quality 100% silicone wrist bands that come in 24 stock colors. Unlike other companies, Reminderband will allow customers to order any quantity from one to thousands.

Their standard wristband is very durable and can be personalized in many ways including beautiful colors and catchy slogans.
