Auburn, Calif. (PRWEB) February 08, 2013
A golf course in Auburn, Ca. will be selected soon. Sponsors are being solicited for prize money. The rocket testing is being completed. The Fall of 2013 is the launch time for the "First" Tournament of The Rocketry Golf Organization (RGO).
Rocketry Golf(R/G) is the merger of two world-wide sports. The player, rocket launches a plastic golf ball toward the green, then he or she uses a real golf ball and club to putt out. This game was invented by Doug Frost in 1978. He watched golfers playing in the rain and realized that he was just flying rockets in the rain. Rocket Flyers and golfers are both crazy about their games. Rocketry Golf was born.
The "First Game" was played versus two golf pros in 1989 at Shoreline Golf Links, Mountain View, California. Check out the four minute clip on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLwtbYNkgzc. The golf pros, Jack Guio and John Lowe, were amazed at the distances and the accuracy of this new game. Doug flew one to 427 yards, landing just 30 feet from the flag. Another flight was 320 yards, landing just 20 feet from the flag!
The reason for the extreme accuracy is due to the AZ-EL Launch Pad that Doug invented. It has a brass C-Rail and both Azimuth and Elevation angles. It is accurate to 1/2 degree.
The rocket kits that Doug designed will "Roll or Spin" as they fly. That makes them fly to exactly where they are pointed. Extreme accuracy and 300 mph flights make this a very exciting game.
The Rocketry Golf Organization (RGO) was just formed in 2013 to manage the R/G contests and tournaments. Club groups are invited to practice this game and enter these events.
