Shreveport-Bossier, LA (PRWEB) April 18, 2013

Located just minutes from downtown Shreveport on Elvis Presley Avenue, the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium was the home of the Louisiana Hayride, a 50,000 watt radio broadcast, giving rise to such artists as Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, and has hosted venue for events ranging from sporting events to debutante balls. With a rich history dating back to November 11, 1929, the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium has closed for one year for renovations starting April 1, 2013 for the first time.

Renovations will include new user-friendly ADA-compliant seating, new seating in the orchestra level, rewiring of the building, reseal and replace all windows, installation of a load-in elevator backstage, refinishing of flooring, air conditioning in the lobbies, installation of new HVAC systems and controls, and refurbishing of dressing rooms.

Sam Voisin, regional general manager of SMG facilities management, said, “All of the greats played on this stage at some point in their career, from Jimi Hendrix to Bob Dylan, to the Hayride stars. When Elvis performed for the first time on radio at the Hayride, the face of music changed right in front of our eyes on the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium stage. Some even say that the spirit of music has never left the building.”

A grand re-opening is scheduled for April 2014. Voisin also stated that the grand re-opening will be a part of a month-long celebration highlighted by the Louisiana Hayride in partnership with the Grammy Organization. Plans are underway to produce a special nationally broadcast concert. More details are to come.

The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is a 6,300-square-foot arena with a 54-foot proscenium arch and more than 3,000 seating and box office services. The venue offers versatility amidst a picturesque art deco backdrop.
