Skoda India Plans to Facelift Laura – Reports Gaadi.com

Skoda India is planning to facelift its sedan Laura in 2013. Initially launched as Octavia, Skoda’s global brand, the sedan had been re-branded as Laura in India as Skoda was experiencing a decline in sales due to ongoing corporate re-branding.

With similar looking interiors like that of Passat and Jetta, Industry experts point out that the all new Laura will be available in four engine options: 1.4 TSI, 1.8 TSI, 1.6 TDI, 2.0 TDI and a vRS version. Skoda Laura will be the only car with over 150bhp power and independent suspension in its category. The engine will be mated with a six speed manual and seven speed automatic transmission gearbox. However, it is not clear whether all the options and high end features of the car will be brought to India or not.

Gaadi.com uncovers that the D-segment car market in India is quite tough. Moreover, the significance of D-segment sedans is declining as majority of the masses are going for economical and fuel efficient cars whereas the affluent population is tilting towards SUVs and crossovers.
