Perth, Western Australia (PRWEB) April 08, 2013
On April 8st 2013, Pablo Rodriguez Pina, founder and co-director of the Perth (Western Australia) based software company announced the company will now offer Agile software development practices for custom software solutions to small and medium businesses
The company, which specializes in cross platform Enterprise Application Development using the Java Platform had been applying waterfall methodologies when working with small and medium businesses.
Pablo Rodriguez Pina, announced the reasons for the transition: “For small and medium businesses, a clear understanding of the overall project costs is of vital importance. For a businesses with less than 30 employees, a $70,000 investment in a custom software solution can be a big effort. We had been applying waterfall methodologies to allow businesses to get an exact price of the overall cost of the system upon completion of the System Requirements Specification.”
Agile methodologies have become increasingly popular in recent years across most software development vendors and departments. Pablo Rodriguez Pina outlined how Agile practices can improve the development process:
“The downside we found we found with Waterfall is that the overall timeframe of the development becomes longer as the development could only start upon use cases sign off and that the businesses can find it quite challenging to follow a Systems Requirements Specification or a Business Process Model diagram due to the technical nature of it. Fixed requirements up front limit the ability to deliver a solution that meets client needs, as requirements often change as processes are explored more in depth during development.
With Agile, there is a more direct interaction between developers and the business. Users can understand the nature of a use case much easier by testing iterative builds. With Agile, users can focus on the requirements of a particular area and see it being transformed into a usable system screen before moving into the next one. ”
With tools such as Jenkins Continuous Integration and Java Web Start, Anahata customers can test development builds of both web and desktop based applications from their premises, show the in-progress application to users of different departments and get live feedback.
