Stratford Career Institute has added new content to their distance learning Cooking and Catering course.
An entirely new module dedicated to cooking vegetables and grains has been added to the course curriculum. The module was designed to help students learn more about the delivery of healthy food choices in today’s menus.
As part of this new module, students will learn how to correctly and creatively cook a variety of vegetables, grains and side dishes that can benefit individuals with different palettes or dietary needs. The new module also details preparation for both home and commercial presentation.
Prior to this module, Stratford students are provided with a thorough introduction to both the culinary and business aspects of cooking and catering. Modules three, four, and five carefully detail food types, preparation, cooking and presentation. The final module of the Cooking and Catering course deals entirely with running a catering business.
Stratford officials say since the course focuses on the fundamentals, everyone from novice cooks to those more familiar in the kitchen can benefit form the broad range of creative and business related material that is covered.
“This course is perfect for anyone looking to learn more about cooking, as well as an excellent resource for someone looking to start a catering business of their own,” said Dr. Claude Major, Director of Education for Stratford Career Institute.
“Unlike traditional cooking classes, Stratford lets you study at home at your own pace. Students also get to keep their textbooks, which can serve as a resource for years to come,” added Dr. Major.
