Our clients experiences, coupled with the experiences of Dr. Zann and other orthopedic surgeons, indicate that the revision rate for these hip implants continues to grow at an alarming rate.

New York, New York (PRWEB) April 11, 2013

The nationwide law firm of Bernstein Liebhard LLP is actively filing Stryker hip recall lawsuits related to the 2012 recall of Rejuvenate and ABG II Modular-Neck Hip Stems. The Stryker Rejuvenate recall was announced in July 2012, after the metal hip components were found to be prone to fretting and corrosion at the modular neck junction. According to Stryker, some 20,000 Rejuvenate and ABG II stems were sold worldwide prior to the recall.* Recently, Dr. Robert Zann, an orthopedic surgeon in Boynton Beach Florida, told the Palm Beach Post that the number of Stryker hip recall patients needing revision surgery has exhausted some doctors. For patients, the situation is even worse, as tissue and bone damage often leaves revision patients in worse shape than before, according to the Palm Beach Post.**

“We continue to hear from Stryker hip recipients, some of whom have only recently learned of the recall. Many have suffered serious complications allegedly due to Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems and have already had or are being scheduled for revision surgeries. Our clients experiences, coupled with the experiences of Dr. Zann and other orthopedic surgeons, indicate that the revision rate for these hip implants continues to grow at an alarming rate,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing the victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is actively filing Stryker Rejuvenate lawsuits on behalf of alleged victims of Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II hip stems.

Stryker Hip Recall Revision Rates
According to Dr. Zann, he has already performed 100 revision surgeries on his 400 Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II patients, and he expects to perform at least 100 more. According to the Post, some surgeons reportedly fear that revision rates related to the Stryker Rejuvenate recall could reach 70, 80 or even 90 percent. Complications observed by Dr. Zann echo many of those experienced by Bernstein Liebhard’s own Stryker hip recall lawsuit clients, including measurable metal contamination on blood tests, and painful, fluid-filled pseudotumors around the artificial joints. For its part, Stryker is recommending that all patients fitted with the recalled components undergo metal ion testing and cross sectional imaging to ensure their hips are functioning properly, even if they are not experiencing symptoms of a failing hip implant.***

Court records indicate that at least 81 Stryker Rejuvenate lawsuits have already been filed in consolidated litigation currently underway in Bergen County Superior Court. (In re Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Stem and the ABG II Modular Hip Stem Litigation, No. 296) Plaintiffs in federally-filed Stryker hip claims have also petitioned the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation for transfer of all similar federal cases to the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota for pretrial proceeding. The JPML has scheduled Oral Arguments on the matter for May 30th. (In Re: Stryker Rejuvenate and ABG II Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, Case Pending No. 20 (JPML))

Individuals who have suffered hip implant failures, metal poisoning, pain, or revision surgery allegedly due to the recalled Rejuvenate and ABG II components may be entitled to file a Stryker hip recall lawsuit to obtain compensation for their medical care, pain and suffering, and other damages.
