Orlando, FL (PRWEB) January 12, 2013
There is good news for any tax preparer and enrolled agent who missed the December 31 deadline to complete required tax continuing education credits for 2012. The IRS recently announced that tax professionals can make up missing CE credits for 2012 in 2013, and Fast Forward Academy is offering a variety of methods to help obtain these extra credits.
In 2012, the IRS announced that all registered tax return preparers, RTRP candidates, and enrolled agents have to complete a certain number of CPE courses every year (an RTRP candidate is an individual who has a provisional PTIN and who is required to pass the RTRP competency test by December 31, 2013). For practicing and aspiring tax preparers, this number is 15 and is broken down into 2 hours of ethics, 3 hours of federal tax law updates and 10 hours of other federal tax law. Any tax professional who was unable to complete all 15 hours of CPE classes in 2012 can simply add that number to the 15 also required for 2013.
Fast Forward Academy offers tax professionals a variety of online classes to choose from to help complete these required hours. All courses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and students can choose from story-based content or premium content, as well as occasional in-person seminars and webinars. Students can purchases classes on an individual basis or as a 15-hour package.
Matt McBride, Fast Forward Academy President, is pleased with the IRA’s decision to allow professionals to complete outstanding 2012 credits in 2013. “Tax professionals lead hectic lives and some registered tax preparers or enrolled agents may not have been able to complete all necessary CPE courses, for various reasons.” McBride continues, “2012 has been an adjustment for most tax professionals since these new CPE requirements came into place and Fast Forward Academy is offering many online courses, seminars and webinars for tax professionals to obtain any hours not completed in 2012 during the 2013 calendar year.”
There is no need to designate or notify the IRS of any extra hours completed in 2013 due to missed hours in 2012. A tax preparer who did not meet any 2012 requirements needs to complete 30 hours in 2013.
