Melbourne, FL (PRWEB) April 1, 2011
When March was drawing to an end, a catastrophic event shook the online world when CEO of GoDaddy posted a video of him killing an elephant in Zimbabwe for fun. Everyone was aghast on the killing, and very few people noticed the plight of “Orange baseball Cap wearing” poor farmer, for whom protecting farm yield is more important than anything else.
In the wake of this fateful event, Gossimer has announced to offer a portion from the money it will earn from transferred-in domains for charity that will help the cause of the poor people in Zimbabwe. According to an estimate, 64% of people in that country live below the poverty line, which means 64% of people are earning USD 1 or less per day.
“Shooting an elephant, or any animal for that matter, is indeed unethical and very wrong, but at times people (in countries like Zimbabwe) do that to protect their livelihood or feed their families. We need to help both the elephants and the people shown in orange cap in the video,” said Marvin Dreyer, CEO of Gossimer. “This way we can ensure the safety of animals, and provide a good life to people of Zimbabwe. That is why we have decided that we will give away a small amount of money to charity for each domain transferred in to Gossimer to help 64% poor people in Zimbabwe. We together can help, and Gossimer is always willing to do so.”
By offering to help people in Zimbabwe the company has reached to the root of the problem. The company has demonstrated that it is willing to chip in to solve this problem, once and for all. When contacted, a senior executive of Gossimer told us:
“Until life of the Zimbabwe people is improved, the killing of animals cannot be stopped. We may become emotional and react, but that will not solve the real problem. Think how things were back when we were not so developed to think over issues beyond daily meal? We want to help solve the animal killing problem, but we have taken the “feed them and educate them route.”
Through this campaign, Gossimer is providing a unique opportunity to webmasters and domain name owners to help 64% poor people in Zimbabwe. Industry is seeing it as a welcome move, and hoping that more and more webmasters will grab this opportunity. Only time will tell how driven the online community is.
