Car Rental Coupons: Wasted Hours, Lost Patience and Meagre saving
People often ask me, whats the best car rental coupon out there, and I hate to say that there simply isn't a "one size fits all" winner

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 10, 2013

Since the dawn of time (OK, not that long), experts have hailed car rental coupons as the savior of budget travelers in their fight against rising rates. It sounds like a fairy tale, with the charming "coupon" prince rescuing the helpless "traveler" princess from the grips of the cruel "rising rates" monster. However, reality kicks in when it's time to rent a car and one realizes that finding a great deal involves a lot of effort and heartbreak and when one finally works it's only human to wonder if a better one exists. If that sounds familiar, a start-up might be able to help.

"People often ask me, whats the best car rental coupon out there, and I hate to say that there simply isn't a "one size fits all" winner. The one that works best in Chicago may be the worst in Phoenix. There are just too many factors at play." says Sorab Bhardwaj, founder of Zalyn.com. The sheer number of coupons makes it virtually impossible for anyone to try each one out. The desire to save more pushes one further and restrictions in the fine-print works the other way, creating the perfect recipe for endless wasted hours and the ultimate test of patience and endurance.

Car rental coupons are notorious for lengthy fine-print with a number of twists and turns. Some are valid only on weekends, others only on weekly rentals. Some require a minimum number of rental days and others allow only a certain number of rental days at most. Some even require one to rent on specific days of the week. If that isn't enough, some coupons are limited to specific regions like Florida, whereas others are restricted in certain areas, New York being the most common. Many coupons even require renting a specific type of vehicle. To top it off, the promotions are valid at participating locations (that no one knows of), and the promotion can be stopped at any time!

Zalyn.com, a new start-up is busy working on a solution to this nasty problem. Bhardwaj explains "We have developed an algorithm that reads and understands the coupon fine-print to determine if it is applicable to your specific needs. Users simply enter where and when they are renting, and Zalyn's search engine scans hundreds of coupons in seconds, eliminating the ones that do not apply - typically over half of all coupons".

With the clutter out of the way, the focus shifts to finding the perfect marriage of low rate and high discount. Discounts come in a variety of shapes and forms. Some coupons offer a straight dollar amount savings, such as $25 off and some offer a percentage discount, such as 30 percent off while others offer a combination of multiple discounts. "We calculate the dollar value discount for each coupon to sort the applicable ones based on the discounted total. A 20 percent discount at one agency may still be more expensive than a 5 percent discount at another. This ranking helps users get to the best deal quickly" says Bhardwaj. He adds that the rental rate information is not currently available to Zalyn, and it currently relies on it's users to facilitate the ranking calculation by supplying current rates.

The site is free to use, and one can sign-up to add affiliations like AAA, Costco, USAA and others to complete a comprehensive search and analysis for car rental coupons in minutes.
