Prominent retailer of aftermarket parts for off-roaders, 4 Wheel Parts, recently surprised solider Sean Dial by presenting him with a refurbished version of his truck. After a staged scenario where the vehicle was “stolen,” Sean was reunited with his modified truck at the Memphis store’s Madness in March celebration. The story began when the Memphis 4 Wheel Parts store decided to honor a local war veteran at their Madness in March sale. Coordinating with the Wounded Warrior foundation, they chose Sean, an Afghanistan War soldier who lost his left leg to a remotely detonated IED (Improvised Explosive Device).

“My Dad called and said there was broken glass in the driveway and my truck had been stolen,” says Sean. “I freaked out and couldn’t believe it.” Behind the scenes, his family and friends were working with 4 Wheel Parts to invent the entire scenario. “I’m friends with the Wounded Warriors group here in Tennessee and they asked me if I would come in and help work the 4 Wheel Parts event and I agreed to,” he says.

At that Madness in March event another wounded warrior took the stage and Sean was surprised when he noticed many of his friends and family were there. But the bigger surprise came next. “One of my best friends from Afghanistan drove my Chevy truck in and it blew my mind,” says Sean. “The HID lights were lit up and it was lifted with bigger tires. I noticed the rims and everything else and it was incredible.”

The Memphis 4 Wheel Parts store worked with the Mid-South Rally for Wounded Warriors to trick out Sean’s Chevy with truck accessories. “The look on Sean’s face was beyond disbelief,” says Memphis Store Manager Ben Murray. “All the employees pitched in to see this project through to honor Sean’s service and sacrifice.”

Last weekend, Sean took the refurbished truck on its first road trip to Missouri. He’s due in to the 4 Wheel Parts store this week for a check up on the vehicle. “Even though they explained everything they did, I’m still discovering how some of the stuff they put on works,” laughs Sean.
