Rompers, roos, lovies, blankets, bib&burps and booties. belle&beanzer with their recent debut at Playtime New York, featured a fresh twist on these familiar pieces. When designing the line, owner Rebecca Lazaroff started from scratch. She did away with any traditional construction that was hard on parents or babies, added smart design elements to make these unique baby clothes even easier to use and included additional functionality for increased value. Lazaroff has put an equal emphasis on fashion, developing heartfelt illustrations to remind caregivers that while those first days are challenging and busy, they’re also special and fleeting.
“I believe dressing your child is an intimate and nurturing time of connection. I want belle&beanzer to inspire parents to snap out of their routines and embrace the moments they share with their babies,” says Lazaroff, who in addition to being an accomplished children’s wear designer for labels like OshKosh, The Children’s Place and Kmart, is also a mom of two. “My hope is that my line’s easy wear and smart qualities remove the chore of caring for baby so every moment can be meaningful, not stressful.”
belle&beanzer runs from 0 to 24 months and uses Pima cotton to provide irresistible softness. The brand’s rompers are free of snaps, buttons, zippers and Velcro. Instead, the silhouette features an elastic peek-a-boo entry that opens across the back and stretches wide, allowing for quick, easy changes whether baby is lying on the changing table or sitting on mom’s lap. The brand’s Roo gown has the same back opening, ensuring that tiny toes stay covered and warm. Thanks to their shape and a few strategically placed snaps, the company’s burp cloths transform into full-coverage bibs. The Big Love blanket, which takes its name from its heart shape, is extremely versatile. The blanket features arm pockets that serve multiple purposes: First, they allow parents to secure baby’s arms when swaddling. Second, when used as a nursing cover, mom can use the arm pockets to secure the blanket around herself and support the baby’s head. Through thoughtful elements like these, belle&beanzer is moving the design of unique baby clothes forward, while allowing parents to bring the focus back to the baby.
Fall/Holiday themes include a cuddly bear with the message “hug,” birds chirping “XO XO” and a garden of blooming hearts. All illustrations have a hand drawn feel for a personal touch. Solid styles intermix with star prints and the line’s signature hand-drawn stripes. The fall palette features Ballerina Belle pink, Beanzer blue, Microchip gray, Ski Patrol red and Jellybean green. The hues heat up for the holidays with a palette that includes poppy pink Cabaret, vivid Ultramarine and an inviting Apple Green.
belle&beanzer uses water-based inks, flat seams and heat transfers instead of tags so everything is as safe and comfortable as possible. Wholesale prices range from $8 to $31.50. To help stores select their initial assortments, belle&beanzer is offering two bundles, or prepacks, for $800 each. In addition to ease, the bundles provide a 5 percent discount compared to the same pieces ordered à la cart.
