Dallas, TX (PRWEB) April 05, 2013

The 2013 water sport season has started and Motion Cycle Sports wants to make sure its customers are aware of riding rules for personal watercraft (PWC). Despite their small size, personal watercraft are considered powerboats. Knowing how to operate one properly, and doing so safely, is imperative.

First, all PWC are required to be registered. Motion Cycle Sports can provide an invoice from a PWC purchase to use at the time of registration. Customers will receive a validation sticker, certificate number and title from the state.

On the water, operators must be responsible, well-educated adults (PWC manufacturers recommend an operator 16 years and older) and be aware of boating laws in the area. All riders must wear a personal flotation device when riding, as well as protective clothing. Operator should always attach the engine shut-off cord to their wrist, and remove the cord after riding.

Operators have to be aware of all surroundings. Before riding, ensure no one is in the rear of the PWC when applying the throttle. While riding, operators should be scanning the waters constantly to prevent collision. Avoiding aggressive maneuvers, riding in a proper position and maintaining a safe speed are also essential to safety on the water.

Motion Cycle Sports can answer customer questions regarding safe operation of their PWC. They also can provide information about boating safety courses and supply customers with the accessories required.
