This week Vias Imports begins its year of anniversary celebrations with the launch of its new website.
Founded in 1983 as a small project among friends to get the best of Italy’s regional wines to a small group of retailers in New York City, Vias Imports has grown to be a 20-region-strong Italian portfolio with distribution in all 50 states. The 60 Italian wine producers that call Vias Imports their American home still reflect the love of indigenous wines that sparked the birth of one of the last American wine importers specialized in Italian wines, offering everything from the Teroldego of Trentino to the Primitivo of Puglia.
In step with Vias Imports’s unique focus on the regional wines of Italy, the new website is organized to place an emphasis on the regional origin of the wines, but offers quick navigation for users less acquainted with Italy’s wine geography. An interactive map of Italian producers will allow users to explore Italy region by region and a new image bank will give members of the trade access to high resolution images from all the producers in the Italian portfolio.
In addition, Vias Imports will mark its anniversary year with an ad campaign celebrating “30 Years. 20 Italian Regions. 1 Passion.” The ad will appear in trade publications and feature the names of some of Vias Imports’s most recognized producers. The campaign will coincide with online spotlights of the handful of Italian producers that have been with Vias Imports since its early years, including Broglia, Cantele, Castello dei Rampolla, Cataldi Madonna, Ceuso, Colle dei Bardellini, Dal Forno Romano, Maso Poli,Produttori del Barbaresco, Suavia, Tenuta San Leonardo and Salvioni La Cerbaiola. This series on historic producer will begin with a profile of Produttori del Barbaresco on the Vias website later this month.
“There have been a lot of ups and downs on the road that has taken Vias Imports from a small importer to the national presence it is today. We are very proud to have withstood the test of time,” says Luca Bigerna, president of Vias Imports, “It is a testament to the passion, knowledge and talent of not only our dedicated producer partners, but of our chairman, Fabrizio Pedrolli, who has guided this portfolio faithfully for 30 years.”
Vias Imports will celebrate its anniversary with a tasting series in New York City; Boston, MA and Scottsdale, AZ this May. Representatives and winemakers from many of the Italian producers in the portfolio will be on hand to raise a glass to this benchmark year.
