Palms Wellington Plastic Surgery and Prestige Surgical Center have achieved accreditation by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). Accreditation distinguishes this surgical facility from many other outpatient surgical facilities by providing a safe work environment and the highest quality of care to its patients. Status as an accredited organization means Palms Wellington Plastic Surgery and Prestige Surgical Center have met the nationally recognized “Gold Standard” for the provision of quality health care set by AAAASF. Over 2,000 ambulatory surgical facilities across the United States are accredited by AAAASF. Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek accreditation and not all facilities, which undergo the on-site survey, are granted accreditation.
“We have always strived to provide great care and service for our patients,” stated Itzhak Nir, MD FACS. “When you see our certificate of accreditation, you will know that the AAAASF, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and procedures. The certificate serves to recognize the hard work and focus of our whole organization around care and service for our patients.”
Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAASF undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site review by AAAASF expert surveyors — volunteer physicians, nurses and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
“Going through the process challenged us to find better ways to serve our patients, and it is a constant reminder that our responsibility is to our patients and the quality of care we provide,” said Dr. Nir.
The vast majority of ambulatory surgery facilities are still unaccredited, operating independent of any peer review and inspection process. A growing number of states and specialty societies, however, are recognizing the need for mandatory accreditation. AAAASF has been and continues to be in the forefront of these legislative efforts.
The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities(AAAASF), founded in 1980, is the leader in ambulatory health care accreditation with more then 2,000 organizations accredited nationwide. AAAASF accredits a variety of ambulatory health care organizations, including ambulatory surgery centers, office-based surgery centers, endoscopy centers, college student health centers, military health care clinics, and large medical and dental practices. AAAASF serves as an advocate for the provision of high-quality health care through the development of nationally recognized standards and through its survey and accreditation programs. Third-party payers, medical organizations, liability insurance companies, state and federal agencies and the public recognize AAAASF accreditation as a symbol of quality.
