Celestun, Yucatan (PRWEB) May 28, 2013
Summer months mean planning family activities -- a challenge especially with kids of different ages, each with their own meaning of “fun.” Hotel Xixim, a unique Mayan bungalow hotel just one hour west of Merida, Yucatan, in the Celestun Biosphere Nature Reserve, offers a fun 5-day/4-night summer family package for all ages. The dates of this package, July 31 through August 4, also coincide with the group release of the baby turtle hatchlings produced from eggs laid on Xixim’s beach between April and June. Adults and children alike can participate in this memorable event assuring the survival of several endangered species of sea turtles.
As part of the summer family fun package, children 5 years and older can participate in a special “Karma Kids Yoga” class taught by the bilingual owner of Semilla Yoga in Merida, Claudia Guerrero. Mrs. Guerrero’s background in theater, circus and on-going yoga classes for children in Merida has proven to energize the younger yogis. “Children naturally take to yoga poses as they realize what incredible shapes you can make with your body. You can become a tree, a bird or an animal,” comments Claudia. “As the little yogis or yoginis move forward, they gently learn creativity, spontaneity, acceptance, cooperation, and the fine art of balancing their emotions with energy.”
Besides yoga, other kids' activities in the summer family fun package include a combined visual arts and yogic theater class, also taught by Mrs. Guerrero, in which kids make puppets and invent plays. Parents later attend a performance arranged by the children. With free time during the day, families can participate together in nature-adventure excursions: navigating by small, motorized boat through mangrove tunnels to discover unusual birds and reptiles; kayaking the gentle sea or estuary; or matching tropical plants with names along the interpretive nature paths. The sense of discovery is palpable even when exploring the miles of pristine shell-covered beach, or relaxing with a bird or Mayan archeology book by one of the two swimming pools.
The 5-day, 4-night family package for 2 adults and 2 children in an individual bungalow (2 queen beds) is $1,250 USD and includes: 4 nights accommodations, breakfast, lunch, and dinner with children’s menus for kids; all taxes; yoga class for kids with props; yogic theater and visual arts class for kids; healthy kid snacks during activities; family movies; board games, table tennis, billiards, table football, videos and books from the library; and kayaks, bicycles, and interpretive nature trails. Parents enjoy morning coffee or tea brought to the bungalow as well as a 30-minute SPA massage. The program can be viewed and reservations made at: http://hotelxixim.com/pandilla-yoga.php.
