New Psychotherapy Training Program Provides Psychotherapy Career Opportunities to Gestalt Students

Gestalt’s psychotherapy training program offers alternative psychotherapy career opportunities with its new psychoanalytic program, which meets the new requirements for New York state professional licensing for psychotherapy.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 24, 2007 -- Pursuing psychotherapy career opportunities and finding high-quality psychotherapy training programs has become more challenging with the new law regarding New York state professional licensing for psychotherapy. The Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy offers an alternative path for candidates who have Masters' degrees in any subject.

Gestalt Associates has been training students in Gestalt Psychotherapy for the past 23 years in its Clinical Fellowship Program. It also offers a psychotherapy training program for students in allied fields that lasts either four years or one year. Last year the school realized that it was unable to accept many talented and qualified candidates who did not fall under the state’s restrictive licensing categories and felt motivated to offer a licensing program to these applicants.

Our theoretical base will continue to be Gestalt theory and will continue to offer an experience-rich, humanistic, interpersonally oriented, highly personalized training program. Training features a structured program, which includes lectures, seminars, demonstrations, live practicum and the opportunity to have a supervised internship in a low-fee clinic.

The new Gestalt Psychoanalytic program, as well as its ongoing training programs, began this fall. Registration is now open for coursework in the Psychoanalytic program.

We are centrally located at 201 West 34th Street, fourth and fifth floors. Most questions about the program and the psychotherapy career opportunities it provides can be answered at the newly launched website: www.Gestaltassociates.org.

We have two Open House events planned for the spring: April 11, 2007, and May 30, 2007. Please visit the website for more information.

“I finally will have some benefit from my Creative Writing Masters,” said one promising applicant who is also a Reiki practitioner.

“I have a Masters in Psychology, but haven’t been able to use it to practice as a psychotherapist,” said another applicant. He now will be able to choose between many psychotherapy careers when he graduates from the new training program.

The Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy is committed to addressing the needs of licensed mental health practitioners, as well as applicants who are excluded from the field of psychotherapy due to the law change for New York state professional licensing for psychotherapy. We are also committed to a training experience which emphasizes a great deal of individual attention to each student, based on the rich theoretical base of Gestalt Therapy. This allows graduates to be proficient in the modalities of working with individuals, groups and families. We have the same program, only better!
