John Graden has generated over $30-million as a result of his self-published books.

I packaged my first book as a manual. I sold over 1,000 copies in a three ring binder for $149 that first year. That book paid off my first home.

Despite an industry meltdown for publishing, some authors are taking control of their titles by self-publishing. John Graden, of Clearwater Beach, Florida, has written six books and self-published all but one. He credits those books for creating businesses generating over $35-million since 1993. He was inducted into the Self Publishing Hall of Fame in 1997.

Graden's new book, "The Impostor Syndrome" was chosen for the March 2nd cover of the coveted industry journal Publishers Weekly. Publishers Weekly has been in publication for over 130 years.

Self-publishing is far removed from the days of the vanity press, where an author might print just enough books for friends and family. Graden says, "I packaged my first book as a manual. I sold over 1,000 copies in a three ring binder for $149 that first year. That book paid off my first home."

An 8th degree black belt and World Champion Kickboxer, Graden has used his books and the platform they've created to build a worldwide reputation as the martial arts "Teacher of Teachers."

The combination of advanced technology and the ability to control every element of the book publishing process makes self-publishing a viable strategic choice. Graden joins a long list of celebrated self-published authors including John Grisham, Deepak Chopra, Carl Sandburg, Mark Twain, and Bernard Shaw.

While he continues to self-publish, Graden has garnered interest from high powered book agents.  In January, he was signed by the famed "Literary Lion" Peter Miller, who recently landed a major book and movie deal for Ann Pearlman's first novel, "The Christmas Cookie Club."  For over thirty years, Miller has had a successful career managing authors like Graden who specialize in transformational topics.  "John has the qualities we're looking for in our top clients," Miller says.  "He's a great writer, an excellent speaker and marketer, and has an impressive international platform.  We foresee great things for John Graden's future."

A popular speaker on personal and professional development, John Graden can be reached for interviews and appearances at JohnGraden.com.
