CHARLESTON, S.C. (PRWEB) July 22, 2019
July 31, 1970 was a sad day for members of the British Royal Navy as the Admiralty Board discontinued the centuries-old tradition of providing a daily “tot” of rum to enlistees. Affectionately known as “Black Tot Day (BTD) in the UK and other Commonwealth countries, the ritual dates back to 1655 when shipboard life was incredibly difficult and the daily issue of Pusser’s Rum was the highlight of the day.
Today Pusser’s Rum is enjoyed worldwide and Black Tot Day is a celebration of those days gone by. This year’s BTD features a photo contest open to anyone. Entrants are urged to grab their Pusser’s gear and send in their best photo. The lucky winner will receive a Rum Runner gift set, which includes a tote bag, 2 bottles of Painkiller® Mix, 2 Painkiller® Mugs and a limited edition porcelain hip flask. The winner will also have their winning photo featured on Pusser’s website and social media platforms.
