Q1Medicare.com now has their updated 2013 Medicare Advantage plan search tool or MA-Finder, designed to provide the Medicare community with a quick overview of all Medicare Advantage plans available in their area. The Q1Medicare MA-Finder includes coverage information for all Medicare Advantage plans with and without prescription drug coverage, as well as Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans and shows key Medicare plan coverage features including monthly plan premiums, plan designs, drug tiers cost-sharing information, and maximum out-of-pocket limits. The MA-Finder also provides complete health and prescription cost and coverage details for all Medicare Advantage plans along with Medicare Advantage plan contact information. Links are also provided for each plan’s online formulary or drug list so users can check the coverage of their medications.

Our MA-Finder provides users with a basic comparison of all available Medicare Advantage plans along with links to a plan’s complete coverage details, enrollment and contact information, and even a narrative text version of the plan coverage.

Q1Medicare.com now offers their 2013 Medicare Advantage plan search tool or MA-Finder, updated with health benefits and coverage details for all Medicare Advantage plans across the country. The Q1Medicare MA-Finder includes coverage information for all Medicare Advantage plans with and without prescription drug coverage, as well as Medicare Advantage Special Needs plans.

Unlike stand-alone Medicare Part D plans, Medicare Advantage plans provide health coverage traditionally found under Medicare Part A (hospitalization and in-patient care) and Medicare Part B (doctor visits and out-patient care) – and may also include Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage along with other benefits not usually offered by original Medicare, such as hearing aid, dental and vision coverage.

Just like the Q1Medicare stand-alone Medicare Part D prescription drug plan finder or PDP-Finder.com, the Medicare Advantage plan finder is designed as a simple alternative to other more complicated online Medicare plan search tools. Using the Q1Medicare.com/MA-Finder, Medicare beneficiaries enter their ZIP Code, choose their county if necessary, and view all 2013 Medicare Advantage plans available in their area.

Alternatively, MA-Finder users can start on a state level and browse through all of the counties within a state to see highlighted plans showing the lowest cost plans with $0 deductible prescription drug coverage for each type of health plan (such as HMO, PPO, or PFFS), along with a link to a complete list of all Medicare Advantage plans in the specific county. As an example, users can go to Q1Medicare.com/MA-Finder/FL, and if they click on the “All MA-PD plans in Broward County, FL” link, the user would see a comparison of all 98 Medicare Advantage plans available within the county.

The MA-Finder search results provide an overview of key Medicare Advantage plan coverage details such as monthly plan premiums, deductibles, 30-day supply cost-sharing information for all drug tiers, and Part A and Part B maximum out-of-pocket limits (or MOOP). The Q1Medicare MA-Finder also provides links to all Medicare Advantage plan formularies or drug lists so users can examine the coverage of a specific plan’s drug list before enrolling.

Users of the Q1Medicare.com/MA-Finder can also choose to compare additional features of the available Medicare Advantage plans by changing the “Additional Info” field in the MA-Finder search preferences box. Key information such as the number of plan members, the number of drugs on the plan’s formulary, or the plan’s initial coverage limit can be viewed. More advanced users can also filter the MA-Finder search results based on such factors as monthly premium, maximum deductible, Donut Hole coverage, plans with $0 cost-share on tier-one drugs, and/or Special Needs Plan (or SNP) eligibility requirements.

“Because of the variation in plan coverage details, Medicare Advantage plans are difficult to review, especially when a person is also considering prescription drug coverage along with the health coverage details,” notes Dr. Susan Johnson, co-founder and technical director of the Q1Medicare.com site. “Our MA-Finder provides users with a basic comparison of all available Medicare Advantage plans along with links to a plan’s complete coverage details, enrollment and contact information, and even a narrative text version of the plan coverage.”

Users of the MA-Finder who would like to learn more about a specific plan’s coverage can click on the “detail” icon below the Medicare Advantage plan name and review the details of the plan’s health and prescription drug coverage. The MA-Finder also includes a “T” icon for each Medicare Advantage plan, allowing users to read about the chosen Medicare Advantage plan’s coverage information in “simple text” rather than in chart format. An email icon is also provided under each plan name, so that users can view and send themselves a copy of the plan’s coverage details and contact information.

Medicare beneficiaries are reminded that Medicare Advantage plans are not Medicare Supplements or Medigap policies. A Medicare Advantage plan works in place of original Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B coverage. However, Medicare Supplement works in addition to a person’s original Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B coverage. Also, a Medicare Advantage plan and a Medicare Supplement cannot be used together.

The Q1Medicare.com MA-Finder tool is available free of charge to all site users and the complete results of any county-wide search can be emailed to the user for further review offline. The MA-Finder and all other Q1Medicare.com tools can be accessed on PC, smartphone, or tablet platforms. The Q1Medicare.com Medicare Advantage plan search tool can be found directly at MA-Finder.com.

Q1Medicare.com reminds Medicare beneficiaries that the 2013 annual Open Enrollment Period is ending on December 7th and if they wish to add, change, or drop their Medicare Advantage plan coverage they should do so before the December 7th deadline. After December 7th, Medicare beneficiaries will only have the opportunity to drop their Medicare Advantage plan coverage during the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period that starts on January 1, 2013 and continued through February 14th.
