We’re proud to honor Becky Bruns with The Ripple Effect award. She’s selflessly dedicated her life to helping others and sets an outstanding example for others to follow.
LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (PRWEB) March 21, 2012
Local law firm Rainwater, Holt & Sexton recently honored Becky Bruns, branch director at Bethany Christian Services in Little Rock, for devoting the last 21 years to helping children find loving and safe homes.
“We’re proud to honor Becky Bruns with The Ripple Effect award," said attorney Mike Rainwater. "She’s selflessly dedicated her life to helping others and sets an outstanding example for others to follow.”
The latest honoree of the law firm’s The Ripple Effect program, Bruns spent many years working with women who had unplanned pregnancies and came to Bethany to learn about their options. Her first involvement with Bethany was when she and her husband became foster parents for a child awaiting adoption. After that experience, Bruns, who has a degree in social work, realized she could use her education and experience to help others.
“I stood in awe of the strength and courage of the birth mother that day in the hospital, choosing to hurt so that her child had a future and a hope,” Bruns said, recalling the first birth mother she counseled. “She became the first of many heroes, and I spent the better part of the next 18 years working with these women. They had and have my heart.”
Bruns counseled many women with unplanned pregnancies who had little sense of their strengths and the extent of their capabilities. Her goal was to help these women realize their beauty, value, and capability to make the right decisions.
“Becky has a way of making you feel like you can accomplish any goal and that you are important inside and out,” said Beth James, administrative assistant at Bethany. “In the 21 years I have known and worked with Becky, she has never ceased to amaze me with her heart.”
A grandmother of five, Bruns explains that heroes are ordinary people who put others first and serve the common good. They provide inspiration and encourage others to let their passion overrun their fears. She says her parents are heroes because they taught her the importance of helping others and setting an example for others to follow.
“I have worked with Becky for nearly five years, and she is an amazing woman,” said Janna Vandiver, adoption specialist at Bethany. “Becky’s work has impacted the lives of more people than we will ever be able to count, and her contribution is priceless. Her positive attitude is contagious to everyone who meets her.”
