Chiropractic & Wellness Center of Durham, North Carolina will once more launch their holiday charity events this holiday season. Patients under Raleigh and Durham chiropractic care can donate to their clinic’s Thanksgiving Feed a Family campaign and Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan Purse campaign, as the holidays rapidly approach. Success from past charity events have created a tradition within the Raleigh-Durham chiropractic community to come together to help those in need.

For the Feed a Family campaign, Dr. David Leidich says, “It is our civic responsibility to do our part to help people in need, especially during this difficult economic time. This will be our third year feeding a family for Thanksgiving and each year our patients are so generous with their donations. Last year one of our patients donated an entire breakfast meal and we had cash donations totaling over $50 to give to this family.” Social Services of Durham provides a family in need for this Thanksgiving campaign. A sign-up sheet with a suggested list of foods is posted in the clinic from which the patients can choose which items they wish to donate. Patients in the past have been very responsive and considerate in their food and monetary donations to help make the campaign a success by providing a family in need a happy Thanksgiving.

Raleigh-Durham Chiropractic Staff Embraces the Christmas Season

The Durham chiropractic staff also provides the opportunity for their patients to give during the Christmas season with Operation Christmas Child by donating toys for children to ensure that a child’s Christmas can be made better with a simple charitable contribution. One of the clinic’s patients will bring in pre-made shoe boxes and fliers instructing those wishing to donate to fill the boxes with toys, school supplies, candy, and clothes, specifying for a boy or a girl, and then return the boxes to the clinic.
Once boxes are returned, they are then shipped to a local distribution center. The Durham clinic is hoping to exceed their donation of thirty boxes from last year. In light of giving to those less fortunate during Christmas time, Mrs. Leidich says, “Each year there are many children around the world who won't get anything for Christmas. By taking one of these boxes and filling it with little gifts that don't even cost that much, we are making a difference. I saw a video of the children in different countries when the boxes were being delivered last year. It brought tears to my eyes to see the joy these children displayed opening their own personal shoe box. It was a good feeling to know that I was part of that joy.”
