Launched on in time for Ramadan, Ponn Sabra debuts a complete guide for Muslim moms and their families. “The Ultimate Guide to Ramadan for the Muslim Mom” answers questions that many moms have about Ramadan but don't know who to ask.
Author Ponn Sabra embraced Islam in 1999 and faced many challenges Muslim Moms endure during her first Ramadan. In addition to learning how to abstain from food, drink, sexual relations and anger during daylight hours, Ponn needed to compensate for pregnancy. A public health official at that time, Ponn was determined to maintain the healthiest, most nutritious fast while learning how to gain the most from this sacred month.
Twelve years and three daughters later, Ponn faced many new challenges resulting from raising children during Ramadan. In preparation for Ramadan 2011, Ponn and her daughters shared 99 Tips To Help Kids Fast During Ramadan. The Tips were so popular, Ponn decided to compile a Ramadan 2011 blog series with other Muslim Moms. This blog series continues to be AmericanMuslimMom.com’s most-read blog series to date. Ponn amended the tips and lessons shared to create a 10-Chapter 109 page ebook, entitled, “The Ultimate Guide to Ramadan for the Muslim Mom.”
Popular issues and problems Muslim Moms face during Ramadan are detailed in this book; such sensitive topics include:
-Should Muslim Moms fast during pregnancy? If so, how?
-At what age should Muslim kids start fasting? How can they fast during the long hot summer months?
-What can Muslim moms do during their menses when they cannot fast or pray?
-What happens is a Muslim wife has relations with her husband during fasting hours?
-How to balance food planning, community dinners, volunteer work, and acts of worship?
-With the majority of Muslims gaining weight during Ramadan, how can Muslim moms maintain it?
-How to care for kids during special night prayers at home and at the masjid?
Ponn launched the book the first day of Ramadan, July 20, 2012 and received the following positive reviews:
“I learned more about Ramadan from this one book then any other I’ve ever read before; and, as an online Islamic store owner, I’ve read hundreds! Written with warmth, I can feel Ponn’s presence as she shares pages of practical tips and advice. This ebook motivates Muslim moms to achieve the most meaningful Ramadan with their families. I read it from cover-to-cover in a couple hours; but will refer to it throughout this month like a handy textbook. I think anyone interested in learning more about our most sacred month, should pick up this book; even non-Muslims.” ~ Debbie Al-Harbi, MuslimToysandDolls.com
