Massachusetts School Launches Vegetable Garden Project for Students

Clarksburg School in Clarksburg, Massachusetts, has launched a garden project, along with a handful of other health initiatives, in order to encourage a healthier lifestyle among its students. In response, Massage School San Diego has released a tip sheet, listing the best foods for growing children.

Clarksburg School, an elementary school in Clarksburg Massachusetts, has launched a vegetable garden project and several other health initiatives for its students. In conjunction with these programs, Massage School San Diego, a raw food recipes supporter and promoter of San Diego massage schools, has issued a tip sheet, noting the most beneficial foods for children.

As part of the Massachusetts Farm to School movement, Clarksburg School in Clarksburg, Mass., has launched a vegetable garden on its campus. Food from the garden, including fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, is used to create a salad bar in the cafeteria. Clarksburg School has also created a nutrition plan and joined up with Mass in Motion, a state health initiative that fights obesity by encouraging healthy eating and exercise. In addition, the school recently participated in the Massachusetts’ Harvest for Students Week, inviting special guests to speak, including Rep. Gailanne Cariddi and a local produce farmer.

In conjunction with the Clarksburg School vegetable garden project, Massage School San Diego has released a list of the most beneficial foods for kids:

  •     Peanut butter
  •     Milk
  •     Eggs
  •     Veggies
  •     Oatmeal
  •     Yogurt
  •     Apples

Started in Massachusetts in 2004, the Farm to School project aims to create sustainable, healthy food options by pairing up schools with local farmers. The program not only serves to aid the local farming community, but to encourage healthier eating among school-age children.

Clarksburg is a town in Northwestern Massachusetts. It has a population of just more than 1,700 and is considered part of the Pittsfield metropolitan area. Settled in 1764, the town was not officially incorporated until 1798. It encompasses a total land area of just 12.8 square miles.

Massachusetts is a state on the Atlantic Coast of the United States. Part of the New England region, Massachusetts was the 6th state admitted to the union. Its official name is the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and it is home to 6.5 million people. The state capital and largest city is Boston, located on the Eastern border. Massachusetts is home to many historical sites, including Plymouth, where the pilgrims landed in 1620, and Salem, where the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 occurred.

Rep. Gailanne Cariddi is an elected member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives. She represents Berkshire and Franklin Counties and was elected in 2010. Cariddi is a Democratic Party member.

In response to the Clarksburg School’s recent health initiatives and vegetable garden, Massage School San Diego has issues a tip sheet, noting the healthiest foods for children.
