Exton, PA (PRWEB) November 17, 2006 -- Today we announce the launch of a new website http://www.easy-steps-to-reading which will introduce parents, teachers, and school administrators to an innovative, multi-sensory reading program that has been proven successful with children of all ages including those with dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Central Auditory Processing (CAP), and other mild to severe learning problems. Since the program accommodates different learning styles, visual, auditory and kinetic learners are all able to succeed. In addition, the simplistic method of teaching reading combined with a fun and games approach enables children as young as 3-5 to learn to read. The children learn all the phonetic elements through the use of visual cues, interactive movements, and memory devices. Easy Steps to Reading (ESR) teaches children to start at the vowel and blend that vowel sound with the end of the syllable before putting on the initial sound. This "inside out" approach to reading cuts the word attack process in half, and thereby makes reading extremely easy to teach and learn even for very young children.
On the website, parents will hear of other parents who have successfully used the program to teach their children to read when conventional methods failed. Professional educators will hear the testimony of other teachers currently using the program. There is also a selection of newspaper articles from the local media coverage.
Both parents and educators alike can examine the statistics compiled in a kindergarten pilot program using ESR that was begun in December 2005 and completed in May 2006. Twenty-five children from a suburban elementary school participated in the study. Results of the before and after testing showed a median reading score improvement of 300%, and more than half of the kindergarten children were able to sound out words from the current high school SAT list. In addition, math concepts were enhanced over 150%. Children with learning issues improved more than 500%. The local media and Congressman Gerlach from Pennsylvania did come in at the end of the pilot program to observe the children reading and doing math.
The author of the program, Karen Truncellito has a master's degree in education and over thirty years of teaching experience. She is a former classroom teacher who has worked in New York City and Pennsylvania. She continues to help children of all ages and abilities to achieve classroom success in her longstanding, successful tutoring practice. Over the past 20+ years, Karen has mentored hundreds of parents and teachers in helping children, including those with difficult learning issues, learn to read. She does educational consulting for schools and lectures in parent organizations.
