You can expect your property to sell faster sales and for a better value during May when selling your home, apartment building, commercial real estate or any investment property as well.

Many property owners assume that the summer months are best time to get a good price for homes or investment properties, but Wayne Gomes, a real estate agent in San Bruno, says that the best time of year to sell is actually the month of May. Even though the summer is the most active time for buyers and sellers, it also brings more seller inventory, which continues to rise all through the summer. Supply and demand rules state that prices are high when inventory is low with good demand, so May tends to fits the mold for the best month to get the best price, because demand is up but supply is still low.

“I always try to get my sellers to move earlier for this reason and, if possible, they do just that,” Gomes explains.

Even investment properties like apartment buildings and commercial real estate do better in May. Investors may have plans to leave town during the summertime, so they hope to get business done first and may be more likely to invest in a particular property when there’s less inventory on the market. Being ready at this time is the seller’s advantage.
