There was an increase of over 30% in the number of closed sales for attached homes, condos, and townhomes in Schaumburg, and slight decrease in the number of closed sales for detached homes in the area. The number of closed sales for attached homes rose from 38 closed sales in March 2012 to 50 closed sales for March 2013.

The month of March 2013 also showed an increase in the market time for both attached and detached Schaumburg homes for sale.

There was an increase of over 30% in the number of closed sales for attached homes, condos, and townhomes in Schaumburg, and slight decrease in the number of closed sales for detached homes in the area. The number of closed sales for attached homes rose from 38 closed sales in March 2012 to 50 closed sales for March 2013. Whereas, the number of closed sales for detached homes fell from 31 closed sales in March 2012 to 30 closed sales in March 2013. There were also mixed results for the median sales price for homes sold in the area, as the median sales price for attached homes fell for the third straight year, and the median sales price for detached home rose for the third year in a row. The median sales price for attached homes, townhomes, and condos in Schaumburg dropped from $129,500 in March 2011 to $108,075 in March 2012 to $98,000 this March 2013. However, the median sales price for detached homes in the area rose from $205,000 in March 2011 to $214,500 in March 2012 to $261,900 in March 2013. The number for homes for sale decreased in March 2013 for both attached and detached homes. The number of attached homes for sale fell from 365 homes in March 2012 to 143 homes in March 2013, and the number of detached homes for sale declined from 186 homes in March 2012 to 95 homes in March 2013. There was also a decrease in the number of new listings for attached and detached homes for sale in Schaumburg. The number of new listings for attached homes fell from 92 new listings in March 2012 to 75 new listings in March 2013, and the number of new listings for detached homes dropped from 71 new listings in March 2012 to 57 new listings in March 2013. The reduction of homes for sale and the number of new listings also lead to a decrease in the month’s supply of inventory. The month’s supply of inventory for attached homes fell from 8.8 homes in March 2012 to 2.4 homes in March 2013, and the month’s supply of inventory for detached homes decreased from 7.2 homes in March 2012 to 2.7 homes in March 2013. The month of March 2013 also showed an increase in the market time for both attached and detached Schaumburg homes for sale. The number of days attached homes remained on the market increased slightly from 124 days in March 2012 to 129 days in March 2013, and the number of days detached homes stayed on the market rose from 129 days in March 2012 to 146 days in March 2013.
