weSPARK Cancer Support Center will be presenting Leif Rogers, MD, FACS, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, with its “Commitment to Care” Award at the organization’s 10th anniversary “Broadway & Beyond” Gala Event, to be held on September 26, 2011 at 7:30 p.m., at the Alex Theater in Glendale, California. Dr. Rogers will be paying it forward by offering pro-bono reconstructive surgery to a wounded soldier from the IraqStar Foundation, Sergeant Tony Lino.
CBS’ Dr. Phil and U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Tony Lino, a two-time purple heart recipient who has suffered serious wounds in Iraq, will present Dr. Leif Rogers with a “Commitment to Care” award on behalf of weSPARK Cancer Support Center. The award is being presented to Dr. Rogers, a Beverly Hills plastic and reconstruction surgeon who is one of the few surgeons in the country to routinely perform the DIEP Flap (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator) technique for recovering breast cancer patients. Dr. Rogers is being honored for his continued involvement in supporting patients who require reconstructive surgery due to breast cancer recovery and other disfiguring conditions, including war injuries.

About Leif Rogers, MD, FACS
Dr. Rogers is a graduate of Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, is certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and has committed the majority of his practice to reconstructive surgery.
