International newspapers and magazines available digitally—offering patrons easy access to global news.

Worldcrunch allows patrons with roots and interests in their ‘home’ countries to stay in-the-know with global stories translated to English, or in their original language.

Recorded Books, the world’s largest independent producer of audiobooks, has announced that it will begin distribution of Worldcrunch for Libraries, the world’s best source for English-translated news from leading global news sources.

“The United States is a ‘melting pot’ of different cultures from around the world,” says Matt Walker, Recorded Books Vice President. “Worldcrunch allows patrons with roots and interests in their ‘home’ countries to stay in-the-know with global stories translated to English, or in their original language.”

Worldcrunch offers patrons global perspective on world affairs from over four continents in the following categories: world affairs, business and finance, culture/society, tech/science, opinion/analysis, eyes on the U.S., and food/travel. The most relevant foreign news articles are translated into English, while readers also have the option to read an article in its original language. Users have unlimited access to thousands of up-to-date stories from around the world, searchable by topic, and Worldcrunch can be easily viewed on any Internet-enabled device, making it available to patrons on the go.

“The response to Worldcrunch has been tremendous, as it was recently nominated for Digital Innovation of the Year at the 2013 Newspaper Awards,” says Matt Walker. “We expect to get the same positive reaction for this new service from libraries and patrons.”
