It is during these challenging economic times where businesses both small and large need to reflect on how not only to survive but contribute in some small way to improving the whole economic outlook. Outsourcing to emerging markets with cheap labor is not always as good as seems. In an interesting experiment with a small run of product abroad in the summer of 2008 RE-SAILS demonstrated that it can make a higher quality, competitive product domestically in the United States of America. The run of product overseas landed in the USA ended up costing more than our current domestic production. The company is determined to continue to manufacture its products here at home. As a well established company they are looking at opening more stores towards the end of the year and expanding operations and ramping up production. The net result will be the creation of more jobs not only in the manufacturing side but also design, marketing and retail.
Re-SAILS the original recycled sail bag and accessory company has seen many competitors emerge with similar products over the years some of which unfortunately are marketing recycled sail cloth collections that contain no recycled sails. The company is pleased that smaller recycled sail bag companies are contributing to the green effort and thus keeping these hard to break down materials out of land fills. It is their hope that these companies will follow suite and commit to keeping the manufacturing in the USA. Unfortunately some of these companies have moved production overseas resulting in higher profits for these companies and lower quality of products for the consumer as well as the exporting of jobs that should have stayed in the USA.RE-SAILS is pleased to announce that it will be exhibiting at the United States Sailboat Show, October 8 - 12, 2009 booths H17 and H18. The show attracts more than 50,000 boating enthusiasts from around the world to the waterfront of historic Annapolis, Maryland.
