I wanted to use the 1,000 lb. Meltdown Challenge as a way to not only help people kick-start their fitness, but 100% of the proceeds raised go to some awesome charities.

Redlands and Calimesa Fit Body Boot Camps will be participating in Fit Body Boot Camp’s national campaign to bring awareness to the growing obesity problem across the world. The 1,000 lb. Meltdown Challenge’s goal was created to challenge local residents of participating cities to lose a total of 1,000 pounds in 28 days. The 1,000 pound Meltdown Challenge at Fit Body Boot Camp Redlands and Calimesa will start on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Redlands fitness center and at the Calimesa fitness center. All participants will be charged $20 for the 28-day program, and participants will be able to direct 100% of the proceeds to one of the following charities: Strada Corsa; Loma Linda Children’s Hospital; Youth Hope; or Arrowhead Christian Academy.

"I wanted to use the 1,000 lb. Meltdown Challenge as a way to not only help people kick-start their fitness, but 100% of the proceeds raised go to some awesome charities,” says Rebecca Tabbert, Calimesa and Redlands Personal Trainer and owner of Redlands and Calimesa Fit Body Boot Camps. “The Redlands and Calimesa communities have a lot of great charities that support some worthy causes, so I wanted to provide those who are participating in the Challenge with the option to choose where their $20 donation will go."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States. More than one-third of the U.S. adults are obese, and approximately 17% of children and adolescents are obese. A recent study in the New England Journal of Medicine found that people with close bonds set a great example for one another; if they gain weight together, they can also lose it together.

“Obesity isn’t just a personal problem. It is a national and a global problem,” says Bedros Keuilian, founder and CEO of Fit Body Boot Camp. “The goal is to inspire and motivate Inland Empire residents to lose weight as part of Fit Body Boot Camp’s Vision to expose and engage twenty percent of the world’s population to a healthy and fit lifestyle by 2020.”
