Today, seven one-of-a-kind Nalgene bottles, each representing one of the seven American virtues - pursuit of happiness, freedom, justice, independence, liberty, pride, and life – will embark on seven different unique journeys around the U.S. as they will be passed on from traveler to traveler within the country. Refill America aims to celebrate American ingenuity and travel as well as the brand’s passion for the outdoors and adventure by taking viral marketing offline and putting it into the hands of the real world.

The travels of each bottle will be tracked online at http://www.RefillAmerica.org where individuals who come into contact with one of the bottles can share their photos and stories.

The result, a tapestry of stories and experiences collected from across the country all inspired by the simple passing of a bottle, requiring individuals to communicate with one another the old fashioned way - through real-world conversation. In addition, each individual who submits a story and/or photo that includes one of the seven bottles will be automatically qualified to win a $5,000 travel voucher from the company. To encourage individuals who come into contact with the bottle to pass the bottle on to travelers quickly, only the bottle that has collected the most photos/stories for the duration of the project will qualify for the grand prize.

How it Works:
Nalgene has selected seven individuals from the company’s Facebook page to serve as “original bottle carriers” to kick off the project. Each of the seven individuals has been sent one of the seven virtuous bottles where the bottles will begin their trek around the country. As bottles are passed, each bottle carrier will be asked to submit a photo of the bottle in a setting that is in someway special to them along with a brief explanation or story about why this location is meaningful to them. Each bottle is printed with directions on how to submit a photo or story.

Photos and stories can be submitted via text message to 339-221-3776 or emailed to Nalgene(at)cerconebrown(dot)com where the company will post updates on http://www.RefillAmerica.org. Once an individual has submitted a photo and story, they are then to pass the bottle on to another friend or traveler that they encounter along their journey to repeat the same process and so on and so on. The project will extend from August 20, 2009 through December 31, 2009.

How to Win:
After December 31, 2009, Nalgene employees will choose their favorite traveler based on their photo/story from the bottle that has received the most submissions to receive a $5,000 travel voucher.
