My goal is to take the guess work out of what goes together and eliminate the time need to put together a look for a party.

Retro. Upcycled. Shabby chic. All of these words are well recognized by hipsters, home decorators and entertainers alike. But, unless you have time and the right eye, your table could look mismatched—so not chic.
Anna Palmer, founder of Refresh Collections, started her business for just this reason. Hailing from a family of collectors, Palmer’s own home is a marriage between new and old items. She carefully curates each of the sets that she offers on Refresh Collections so that the guesswork on what goes together from decade to decade is not an obstacle to a achieving the perfect look. “I love to entertain. A common comment from my guests regarding how I had put together themes or looks for parties, got me thinking: I could help my friends—and others—source vintage finds for their own homes and gatherings,” explains Palmer. “Refresh Collections encourages guests to become hosts with themed sets.”
Palmer scours for antiques and relics online, at estate sales, in flea markets and in antique stores across the United States. Her workspace is lined with shelves holding tableware from the late 1800s through the 1980s. After shopping, Palmer gets to work to create vignettes: picnic sets, golf themed bar items, vintage bar sets, themed tablescapes – like the blue and white dinner… and more. What is included in each vignette, the concept behind each, and any known back-story is explained on the site.
“Each vignette is one of a kind,” said Palmer. “My goal is to take the guess work out of what goes together and eliminate the time need to put together a look for a party. Hopefully, my customers can then enjoy entertaining more if they have to pull together less.”
